Historic Batavia reconstruction moved to new museum location

A full-size reconstruction of the 17th-century Dutch ship Batavia has reached its new home at Museum Batavialand in Lelystad. The 646-tonne wooden ship was moved from Damen Shiprepair Amsterdam on October 2 and placed on a permanent concrete foundation the next day.

Four sailors rescued after boat hits whale

Four sailors were rescued in the South Pacific after their Australia-flagged boat Tai Tam hit a whale. They had to abandon the 51-foot boat and spend several hours in a life raft before a containership reached them. The accident happened about 250 nautical miles north of Norfolk Island.
