Royal Caribbean receives new LNG-powered cruise ship

Royal Caribbean International has officially received Legend of the Seas, its newest LNG-powered cruise ship, according to The Maritime Telegraph . Built by Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku, the vessel is the third ship in the company's Icon-class series.
At about 365 metres long and 250,800 gross tons, Legend of the Seas is among the largest cruise ships in the world. The vessel can accommodate around 5,600 passengers and is operated by a crew of approximately 2,350 people.
The ship runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and uses a dual-fuel propulsion system. The vessel is also equipped with fuel cell systems that provide auxiliary power and help produce fresh water on board.
Designed for greater efficiency and comfort at sea, the vessel features a specially shaped bow that improves stability and reduces movement during voyages.
Spread across 20 decks, Legend of the Seas offers more than 2,800 cabins, 28 dining venues, swimming pools, entertainment areas, and the signature AquaDome complex found on Icon-class ships.
Before welcoming its first guests, the ship will sail to Cádiz, Spain, for final preparations. It will then begin seven-night Mediterranean cruises before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, later this year for Caribbean operations.
Legend of the Seas follows Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, delivered in 2024 and 2025. Royal Caribbean is continuing to expand the Icon-class fleet with additional vessels already under construction.
